Hello this is Lily. I like going in my forest and I like to make stuff.
How The Hummingbird Came To Be
The hummingbird was not always called the hummingbird, it was called a songbird. Every day in the morning, the songbirds would wake up and spread song all over the forest. But one day, one songbird was tired of singing. So she started to try something different. She started to hum. The other birds didn't think she deserved to be called a songbird. So they all met up and decided to call her hummingbird.
Hummingbird liked how the name was unique, so she agreed to the name. As soon as she thought of it, she thought that if she wasn't a songbird anymore. She wanted to be totally different. So she started flying around to look for different things. Whenever she was about a mile away from home, she saw a big patch of flowers, she thought to herself, ''those must taste good.'' So she swooped down to try to get in the flower, but her beak was to short. Her head stayed down for hours on end. Whenever she came back up, her beak had stretched to the perfect length to where she could reach inside the flower and get out the nectar.
She tried to sit on the flower stem but lost her balance. She tumbled down and got stuck in the vines, upside down. She struggled for hours, flapping her wings, trying to get out. Finally, she managed to escape. Then she noticed that she could fly upside down because she had stayed upside down so long. This is how the hummingbird came to be.
